A new substance of very high concern added

The Candidate List of substances of very high concern (SVHCs) for authorisation now contains 169 substances.

Helsinki, 20 June 2016 - ECHA has added one new SVHC to the Candidate List due to the carcinogenic, mutagenic, toxic for

reproduction, persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic (PBT), and very persistent and very bioaccumulative (vPvB) properties

of the substance.

SVHC Obligation of manufactures

According to REACH, if SVHC is present in products in a concentration that greater than 0.1% and the volume for export is

less than 1 tonne, downstream importers shall be notified with such information for communication and also provided with

certifications. However, if SVHC is present in products in a concentration that greater than 0.1% and the volume for export

is greater than 1 tonne, notification of such information to ECHA is necessary.

What’s more, this new SVHC is one of PAHs, and certain products contain PAHs are banned in German even in EU. Therefore,

the relevant company shall follow the most strict limitation and the requirements on all PAHs.
